Etisalat sends strong start signals on 08.09 with new camapign

The fastest growing telecommunications company in the world, Etisalat, has today 08.09, announced that it has entered the final leg of its journey towards the commencement of commercial operations in Nigeria. Etisalat, Nigeria's fifth GSM operator had paid 400 million USD to obtain the Unified Access Service License.Etisalat had made the first official call on its network on 13 March 2008 and progressively set in motion the process of rolling out a robust and stable network that will traverse Nigeria, starting with several cities. Making the announcement today in Lagos, the Chairman of Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Hakeem Bello-Osagie said 'Today, 08.09, I am happy to announce that Etisalat Nigeria is indeed on track in its quest to build and deliver a truly robust and stable network, one in keeping with Etisalat's reputation as a world class telecommunications service provider.' Mr. Bello-Osagie further stated that 'it has been crucial for Etisalat Nigeria to ensure that as Nigerians join the 64 million-strong Etisalat family across the Middle East, Africa and Asia they experience first hand the innovative service delivery, the creative and relevant product development that have become the hallmark of Etisalat's quality'. Vice President, Marketing, Etisalat Nigeria, Wael Ammar added that 08.09 is indeed special for us at Etisalat, not just because it is a day that signifies our numbering range but because today we reach a key landmark with the unveiling of our brand in Nigeria and beginning the process of formally entering the market in Nigeria. Though our journey has only just begun, we are nevertheless proud to announce to you that our network with the unique 0809 prefix is on course, on track and in line with our business and technical plans, very much on time.' Ammar added that 'Etisalat's commitment to Nigeria has been evidenced by several key factors already – from the assemblage of Nigerians who have been deeply involved in the network roll out process to a revolutionary advertising campaign made by and reflecting the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians across all walks of life'. Dubbed 0809ja, Etisalat's maiden marketing campaign, a prelude to its commercial launch, kicks off today Monday 08.09 and deeply identifies with Nigeria and Nigerians need to talk and be heard. Etisalat, which has been ranked the fastest growing telco in the world and the largest in both the Middle East and Africa, ahead of all other regional and international operators in the two regions, serves an aggregate of 64 million customers across 15 other countries.
